My inspiration for Laura Alluxe Escudé's look in this video was the hacker Invisigoth from The X-Files episode "Killswitch". Co-written by cyberpunk pioneers William Gibson and Tom Maddox, "Kill Switch" deals with various "Gibsonian" themes, including: alienation, paranoia, the will to survive, emergent technology, the evolution of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and transferring one's consciousness into cyberspace. These themes are just as relevant today as they were to me in 1998 when this episode aired. In keeping with the era, I put Laura in some of my favorite custom LB-426 pieces from my personal collection, a stretch ballistic nylon top in the style of a bulletproof vest with anti-microbial nylon lycra opera length fingerless gloves. She also wears some of my favorite local LA designers Skingraft and Michelle Uberreste.
